AT LAST! It is official! We will see our first batch of Canon 7D Digital SLR’s hit Australian shores on Monday. With expected delivery to those who have pre-ordered by Tuesday afternoon.

Rest assured I will be out Tuesday afternoon and evening shooting like mad and posting the results immediately.

Game on!

7D Australian Release Update & Sigma 30mm F1.4 EX DC

Just a quick note. I just received a lovely package in the mail from my friends at CamerasDirect.com.au. (Fantastic customer service and great prices! If you’re in Australia, get onto them!)

A brand spanking Sigma 30mm f1.4 EX DC. I gave it a quick run down the beach just now and am really impressed with the quality. Fantastic image and build quality for around $600. I think I’m in love!

I’ll be shooting a bunch in the coming days so I’ll definitely whack some footage up when I get a chance.

On the 7D front. . .I heard yesterday we are looking at 7-10 days until we get our grubby little mits on our 7D’s!!! To say I am frothing would be a significant understatement. . .Hurry up Canon!!!!

Canon EOS 7D – Australian Release

So it’s no secret that I’ve pre-ordered my 7D already. It’s paid for, done and dusted! The waiting part is the hard bit. . .oh and the dreams I’ve had about it. . .ridiculous! Who dreams of camera’s? Obviously OCD freaks like myself!

Anyway, I was talking to the dealer just yesterday about the release date, which is currently slated as nothing more definite than mid-October. A couple of things he said interested me, the first being that of the 20 units they have coming in, 15 have already been pre-sold. That’s quite high considering punters haven’t even used this camera yet. Remember that we are also still around a month out from the release date. Or are we?

That was the second thing he said. Apparently at this stage, it looks as though we could have our 7D’s by the end of the month! He didn’t want to say anything too definite, but seemed quite convinced it would happen.

Now that would be worth rejoicing over! A tale worthy of being told to your children’s children! Well possibly not that good, but certainly exciting for those of us frothing on the 7D.
