I've tested my 7D with some Sony Radio microphones and the audio recording was pretty average mate, so average in fact I couldn't use it. I'm not sure how the old Rode Video Mic fairs either, as it's still got it's AGC weirdness going on. I am looking at getting a JuicedLink XLR adapter and a 5DMKII as an audio solution, but will definitely be doing some tests with the 7D as well. I'll post them when I do. I just bought the 4D a year ago for stills, you've convinced me to upgrade now. I don't do much motion but since I live half the year in Alaska and the other in Hawaii there's times I wish I did. Just the other day I saw two bull moose bluff charging each other over a female and was saddened with the results of my stills. (Great shots but might as well been two moose eating berries).
